Date Position Available:
Produces two dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of heart and related structures for use by physician in diagnosis of heart disease and study of the heart. Attaches electrodes to patient's chest to monitor heart rhythm and connects electrodes to electrode leads of ultrasound equipment. Measures heart wall thicknesses and chamber sizes recorded on strip printout or keys commands into computer to measure thicknesses and chamber sizes of heart on video tape, and compares measurement to standard norms to identify abnormalities in heart. Must have knowledge of EKG's and changes that may occur. Prepares patients and operates cardiac ultrasound machine during transesophageal echo procedures. Performs arterial vascular Doppler studies on upper and lower extremities. Using appropriate transducer probe, listens to arterial pulses, records waveforms in the computer and records pictures of spectral analysis and records measurements. Applies blood pressure cuffs to appropriate areas and performs segmental pressures. Assist nursing staff in the stress testing lab and cardiac rehabilitation as needed.
One year certificate from college or technical school with six months to one year related experience and/or training. Must be ARDMS Registered or registry eligible.
While performing the duties of this job the team member is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms: climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The team member must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
