The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible to assist the health care professional by performing various care activities and related nonclinical services. Provides assistance to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the delivery of patient care including caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient and family unit in a professional, courteous, supportive manner, under the general supervision of the Patient Care Manager or his/her designee. The PCT promotes professional integrity, team work and participates in the interdisciplinary team functions. Is responsible and accountable for adhering to facility Standards of Conduct and practices the Core Values of Patient and Family Centered Care. The PCT will provide for all patients needs in all areas and facilities in compliance with guidelines ensuring that his/her behavior is consistent with the mission, vision, goals, objectives, standards and policies and procedures of King's Daughters Medical Center (KDMC).
High School education. Successfully completes an approved State Registered Nursing Assistant program. Holds current certification as a State Registered Nursing Assistant.
While performing the duties of this job the team member is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms: climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The team member must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
