Patrols buildings and grounds. Examines doors and windows to determine they are secure. Warns violators of rule infractions, such as, smoking, and carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts. Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and security doors left unlocked. Observes persons departing the Medical Center to guard against theft of property. Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Notifies individuals when items reported as missing are located and maintains current information in lost and found logs. Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by staff, visitors, physicians or patients. Writes incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results. Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout Medical Center. Issues parking citations. Escorts visitors, patients and employees to and from parking areas when requested. Assists medical personnel in controlling hostile or combative patients. Remembers policies and procedures and effectively responds to codes and emergency situations. Operates control panel on closed circuit television console.
High School diploma or GED required, related Bachelor’s degree preferred; one year prior security experience preferred. Must submit to a pre-employment screening. Valid drivers license, clean driving history, and clear criminal history are required.
While performing the duties of this job the team member is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms: climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The team member must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
